Workhorse Jiu Jitsu Google five star review - Ashleigh H

Coach Adam is absolutely incredible. There are several things I want to note in my review but I promise it’s worth the read. -Safety. First and foremost, Coach Adam places safety above all else. He meets his students where they are at. I feel like all students understand the importance of the “tap”. This is a very important part of JJ. Is rolling hard, but not causing injury. Coach Adam is on top of it when it comes to safety. To the mat layout, design of the space, how he pairs students together and his ability to coach students in a way they understand so that all can learn safely. Mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually Workhorse feels very safe. I don’t worry about my child being hurt while training here and know he’s in great hands. -Respect. No matter what group, class, age bracket or level you are, Coach Adam is really good about respecting all who enter and teaching respect to all who are new. Coach Adam respects his students and it reflects directly back in the morale of the students. -Inclusivity. This gym feels so inviting, warm and friendly. Adam is wonderful with working with students of all ages, abilities, skill level and backgrounds. He takes the times to really get to know each student and come up with a plan that feels individualized specific to them. -Cleanliness. I am SO IMPRESSED with the cleanliness and setup at Workhorse. This is one of the most well kept and clean gym we’ve been to. There is absolutely NO overlooking how serious cleanliness is taken here. From using quality products, to making sure each student uses the foot station before stepping on the mat, and seeing how the mats are sanitized after, it makes me less worried about sickness and sport related illnesses to occur since this is a close contact sport. The bathroom, and waiting area are well kept, and you can tell everything was curated with ease of cleaning in mind which is very important to me when it comes to coming to any place, but especially where you are barefoot and getting hot, sweaty and in close proximity with others. -Waiting/Parent area. They have a safe area for small children! Rubber mats with appropriate and fun things to build and play with. There is also a tv for kids. This is so nice for the siblings who don’t/can’t participate in classes. It helps take away the stress of keeping a little one busy during session. -Location. This location feels very safe, easy commute and not far from main shopping areas in Aberdeen. It’s about 30 minutes from our home and we feel like it’s absolutely worth the drive. Ample parking. -Private classes. Were we’re lucky enough to have a private session with Coach Adam, along with the help of his daughter, Juliana. Who is absolutely amazing and a great training partner No matter the skill level. The time felt like it was utilized very well. So much was learned and the one on one with my son really helped him improve in areas he needed work on. What stands out about Coach Adams private lessons (and we’ve had several from various gyms). He has been the only one to follow up the class with an email of notes about the session. This was FANTASTIC to refer back to and honestly was a wonderful surprise as other sessions we’ve had other places don’t offer this. Also for the level of support, training and belt level of coach Adam, I felt his private lesson classes are priced extremely well and absolutely 100% worth it. We actually plan to do more as we gear up for competition season. But I also think this is great for even refreshment of knowledge and really just getting that dedicated support on improving or learning something new. My son LOVES Coach Adam and asks for more private lessons with Juliana and Coach. -Vibe. This is a great community. Adam is so laid back and friendly that you can’t help but feel welcomed as soon as you enter the doors. Good vibes only. No judgement here. -Ratio. The ratio of students to Adam is perfect.kids have a good rotation of partners while not feeling like they aren’t getting enough attention and support. Highly recommend Workhorse!

I can’t recommend Workhorse Jiu Jitsu enough! Coach Adam is an exceptional instructor who has a unique ability to teach students of all skill levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, Coach Adam tailors lessons to meet everyone’s needs, making each class challenging yet fun. Under his guidance, both my daughter and I made incredible progress. My daughter has gained confidence, improved her focus, and developed both her technical skills and mental toughness. Adam has helped me improve my technique and understanding of jiu jitsu in ways I never thought possible. He has an amazing ability to break down complex techniques and explain them in a way that’s easy to grasp. Every class is challenging but rewarding, and I’ve seen significant improvements in my skills, from positional control to submission setups. What really stands out is Coach Adam’s patience, vast knowledge, and the positive atmosphere he creates. He’s able to push you to be your best while keeping things fun and exciting. Coach Adam and his family are some of the best people you will ever meet. He coached my son for almost a year, and he learned so much from him! Sadly, we had to move to a different state, but we still miss him and his family very much. Please go check out Workhorse Jiu Jitsu, I promise you won’t regret it!

Head Instructor Adam Lamp brings a strong foundation of knowledge and experience to the mats. Adam has taught several styles of classes during his Jiu Jitsu journey, from National Guard combative training to high intensity drills designed for competitive athletes. Coach Adam can help any practitioner regardless of focus.

Coach Adam has been a tremendous influence and resource for me during my Jiu Jitsu journey. Being an Adaptive Athlete (Cerebral Palsy) finding a coach that is willing to put the time and energy into adapting techniques is difficult. But Adam has stood by me every step of the way.
